Why words are wonderful...and why simplicity speaks.

My name is Christina McDonald and I offer editorial services for creative writers.

Words have the power to change the world. They can influence how we feel, how we perceive and shape our understanding of the world we live in. So often in life though, it's not what we say, but how we say it. Some of the most beautiful expressions are the ones that are simple, clear and refined. One of my favourite mediums is poetry because I love how so much emotional depth can be conveyed with words used succinctly.

Sometimes as writers, we can end up getting lost in our creative expression when we can describe something more effectively, with simplicity. We can end up with too much 'wood' and not enough 'tree.' We don't necessarily need to use more words, it can actually mean using less in order to improve clarity and authentic expression. We want to keep the reader fully engaged with the story and if there are too many unnecessary words cluttering the page, our authentic voice can be lost in the words we use, rather than enhanced by them. 

About me and my credentials: 

I hold qualifications from the London School of Journalism in freelance and feature writing and subediting and design, both obtained with distinction. In addition, I also manage my own publication on Medium which discusses personal and spiritual growth. I have just completed my first novel which I am preparing for publication and I blog regularly on the subject of mental health. When I'm not writing and editing, I can often be found curled up with a book, coffee (and a danish pastry!) I love playing music, running, practicing Qi Gong and travelling.
